The beauty of cycling, is that it’s truly a multi-disability sport. No two disabilities are identical, and there are endless adaptions that can be made. The Alice Holt fleet has a wide range of bikes to make cycling accessible to everyone, and the volunteers will help you choose the right bike to match your circumstances and show you how to ride and where to go in the forest.
The centre has an adapted range of cycles to suit all abilities and these include tricycles, tandems, hand-powered trikes, wheelchair transferable bikes, a wheelchair carrier and side-by-side tandems. The full range, including images, can be viewed on our equipment page here.
If you cannot find all the information you require within this website or have any questions please get in touch with our lead volunteer: Howard Robinson on 07484 710771 or email help@aliceholtinclusivecycling.com.
Who
Alice Holt Inclusive Cycling is a “Cycling for All” centre, is a registered charity (no. 1182422), and is run on a non profit basis by a small number of volunteers for the benefit of people with disabilities who wish to enjoy cycling in a safe environment.
What
We have a range of adapted cycling equipment that can cater for a variety of different disabilities. All the equipment is serviced regularly and usable. There is a small fee of just £3 per session, carers ride free. This money is used to maintain the fleet of bikes.
When
We run sessions every Thursday morning from 9:30 to 12:30. The sessions are open and on a first come first served basis. The time spent on your chosen bike is not timed, you can ride for as long as you wish between the advertised times. Sessions may be cancelled due to rain and other adverse weather. You can find out about the latest information by joining the Alice Holt Inc WhatsApp group. Just give one of the volunteers your mobile telephone number when attending one of our sessions.
We can also arrange, by prior appointment, special days or events for groups or charities who wish to have exclusive use of the fleet of adapted bikes.
Where
Our sessions are hosted at the beautiful Alice Holt Forest which is located South West of Farnham. The forest is full of wonderful scenario and is a great place to admire the beauty of our forests.

Cycling is the third most popular recreational activity in the UK. Millions of people ride a bicycle each month.
As a form of exercise, cycling has broad appeal. Pensioners, the able-bodied or people with disabilities can all enjoy cycling if they have the right equipment.
Cycling is one of the easiest ways to fit exercise into your daily routine because it’s also a form of transport. It saves you money, gets you fit and is good for the environment.
It’s a low-impact type of exercise, so it’s easier on your joints than running or other high-impact aerobic activities. But it still helps you get into shape.
For example, someone who weights 80kg (12st 9lb) will burn more than 650 calories with an hour’s riding, and tone their legs and bottom. If you ride up hills or off-road you’ll also work your upper body.
The best way to build your cardiovascular fitness on the bike is to ride for at least 150 minutes every week. For example, you could cycle to work a few days a week or do a couple of shorter rides during the week with a longer ride at the weekend. You”’ soon feel the benefits.
